We are sooooo excited to tell everyone that Maddy is Pregnant with TWINS! Two baby boys that are due July 8th. But because of a multiples pregnancy it would be completely normal and somewhat expected for them to show up 4 weeks early which is early June. And what does this mean for you? It means if you want something custom, start talking to us about it NOW!
Engagement ring orders and projects of similar complexity (think gemstone sourcing and custom designs) usually take us 12-16 weeks! 12 weeks out is going to bring us to the beginning of June, and while we’d LOVE to be working until the beginning of July, WHO KNOWS!
This means the deadline to approach us about engagement rings is March 18th. That’s only one week away!
Other customs, like if we aren’t sourcing any expensive gems, or creating a design from the ground up, usually take us anywhere between 3-8 weeks. Think nameplates, a modification on a design we already make, wedding bands, etc.
This means the deadline to approach us about a custom job period is May 7th.
When will Maddy return? We don’t know! We will be able to take made-to-order and custom sizing requests throughout the year with a possibly slower turnaround time.
If you don’t know what kind of custom project you have, THAT’S OK, just reach out and ask, we’re happy to talk it out and walk you through the process.
Things to remember when you want to talk to us about custom projects:
Do I have any family gold, silver or gems that I want to repurpose or use as a cash trade in?
Bring us examples of things you like.
That’s it.
The shop will be open during Maddy’s absence on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. We are currently working on getting our wares into a few other shops around Philly for ease of shopping.
We don’t know how long maternity leave will be yet. Maddy really loves her job and wants to be here, so as soon as she can, she’ll be bringing the twins to work with her! Upon their return, customs will be taken and completed on a case by case basis and probably with a longer timeline. We just don’t know what the future holds!
Aaand now it’s time to get sappy. Read on if you dare!
I’ll admit it, it’s Maddy, I’ve been writing this whole newsletter from the third person. But now I’ll be taking it to the first person. My life has been completely changed by this business and the customers who walk through our doors. I definitely opened Tshatshke before I was “ready” because the right opportunity came along. It’s taken an incredible amount of work and determination to get this shop to where it is today. It’s taken so much support from Alex and any of our other friends who have covered shifts, made a graphic, taken photos, dj’d a party, or even just passed along the good word “I have a jeweler”. I have learned so much about myself and about jewelry through this process. Along the way I have been graced with the best customers anyone could ask for. I would be lucky to call any of you my friends, and there’s some of you that basically are my friends now. I make the most money that I ever have, which is kind of laughable but maybe it’s better that I don’t know any better! And I genuinely am excited to do my job all the time.
All of this to say, I couldn’t be taking this next huge step that I’m definitely not ready for without the opportunity that your support in this little shop affords me. Nobody NEEDS jewelry, and it is not lost on me how special your patronage is. From the bottom of our hearts (back to third person because it’s me, Shimmy, Worm, Alex and now Jj), TSHATSHKE LOVES YOU!
Woohoooo 💖💖!
